
Linda Carol Davis-Smith, age 80, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on December 3, 2025. She was born on January 1, 1945, in Gadsden, Alabama, to the late Bernice Veatrice Davis and Houston Edgar Davis.
Linda was born and raised in Gadsden and graduated from Etowah High School. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Larry Smith. After their marriage, the couple moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where Linda began a long and dedicated career at Redstone Arsenal as a procurement specialist for Missile Command. She took great pride in her work and the mission it supported.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Linda’s life was defined by service, kindness, and unwavering faith. She was an active and cherished member of her church communities at West Huntsville Baptist Church and Whitesburg Baptist Church, where she joyfully poured her time and heart into serving others. Her warmth, her generosity, and her gentle spirit touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Smith; her mother, Bernice Veatrice Davis; her father, Houston Edgar Davis; her sister, Barbara Grady; her brother, Bob Davis; her nephew, Mark McElwee; and her niece, Diane Burns.
Linda is survived by her son, Steven Smith; her twin sister, Sandra Davis-McElwee; her brother-in-law, David McElwee; and many loving nieces, nephews, and their families, including Leigh Ann Bridges and family, Karen Burns, Donna Burns-England, Dave Burns, Leallyn Smith-McCarthy, and Michael Smith. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members, dear friends, and church family who will forever cherish her memory.
Linda lived a life marked by love, faithfulness, and devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the countless lives she uplifted with her compassion and grace.
May she rest in eternal peace.
