Lindy Guy Bell Sr.
July 15, 1927 – July 16, 2018
Lindy G. Bell, Sr. age 91 of Guntersville, AL, passed away Monday, July 16 at Huntsville Hospital as a result of complications from surgery to repair a broken hip.
Lindy Sr, is survived by his wife, Svetlana Rushkova Bell, son Lindy G. Bell, Jr., and daughter-in-law Kristina Sandt Bell. Also surviving are sisters Doris Bell Corrie of Keyser, WV, Joyce Bell Boggs of Knoxville, TN, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Price Bell, brothers Haskell and Dotsy, and sisters Joan and Leagwen.
Lindy was born to Guy Harman and Myrtle Paugh Bell on July 15, 1927 and was raised in Piedmont, West Virginia. As a young man he enjoyed working at the local movie theater and playing high school football. He enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, he worked for the railroad and several other companies in the aerospace and defense industry. He retired to Lake Guntersville from the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1984. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling, spending time with the Hedrick family at Smoke Hole Resort in West Virginia, as well as spending time locally with good friends including John Harris and Harley Gilbert.
The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to Guntersville Meals on Wheels or the Tut Fann State Veterans Home.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 10:00am until 11:00am. Graveside Services, with military honors will begin at 11:30am in Valhalla Memory Gardens at the Garden of Gethsemane. Please sign Mr. Bell's guest registry at www.valhallafunerals.com.

I arranged travel for Lindy over the past several years. It was always a pleasure visiting with him
when he came to Sterling Travel to pick up his documents. I was so sorry to hear of Lindy's passing.
