Lois Jean Arney will be laid to rest Saturday at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Huntsville, Alabama. Lois was born October 27,1931 in Savannah, IL. Marrying Glen Arney in 1952, they moved to Huntsville where they had three children. She loved camping, fishing, her bowling league and going with her friends to Tunica to “Pull a few arms”.
Lois is survived by her brothers, James and Robert Tack, her children Greg Arney (Betty), Lisa Matice (Larry) and Bart Arney (Beverly) as well as her two grandsons Trent and Jacob Arney. She is preceded in death by her husband Glen Arney and her parents Clarence and Catherine Tack.
Lois earned an LPN degree and began her career as a nurse in the early 70’s. She took a position with Fox Army Hospital on Redstone Arsenal from which she eventually retired. Her true love and caring for people led her to this career. After she retired, she continued helping people by volunteering with the Red Cross Disaster Relief Program. This took her all over the country and allowed her to continue caring for people from all walks of life. From the Twin Towers to the wildfires in California and many hurricanes in between she never stopped opening her heart to everyone she met along the way having never met a stranger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Program.
