Born in San Diego, California on May 19, 1959, Lonnie Dean Brooks was raised by his loving parents Alice Marie Brooks and Lonnie Johnson Brooks. He married the love of his life, Angela Rae Brooks, at New Salem Baptist Church on September 17, 1994. Dean dedicated his life to serving the Lord, and he served as a pastor and a church leader for many years. He was an Air Force Chaplain for 23 years, and he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Air Force Reserves. Along with this, he was a Chaplain for the Huntsville Police Department and a Hospice organization for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alice Marie Brooks and Lonnie Johnson Brooks. He is survived by his wife Angela Brooks; and daughter Clarissa Brooks; and sisters Rebecca (Scott) Boley and Cindy Crawford; and sister-in-law Rita (David) Brown; and nephews Cameron Boley, Andrew Brown, and Austin Brown.
Dean was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He touched many people and led many to know Him. We take comfort in knowing that he is with his savior and that he has heard the words he so deserved “Well done, good and faithful servant.” If he were able to tell you one thing today, we know it would be that the most important decision you will ever make is your decision to follow Christ. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you follow Him. If you know Christ as your savior, share His love and His word with someone else, and introduce them to the freedom that is found in Christ alone. If you do not know Christ, we ask that you get to know Him. Read your bible, talk to someone, pray, and make a decision to follow Him, because we know that there is freedom and eternal life that can only be found through Jesus Christ. Dean would want to tell you that we serve a risen Savior who has conquered death, hell, and the grave; and the most important thing you will do in your life is decide to follow Him.
A visitation for Dean will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00pm.
