Mrs. Kilgore passed from this life on Wednesday night, September 13th. She was born in Augusta county, Virginia to Finley and Pearl Davis on November 20, 1922.
Mrs. Mable was preceded in death by her parents and by one sister, Thelma Gum. She was also preceded in death by her husband, WWII veteran, James C. Kilgore and by one son, Joe Earl Wine of Huntsville, Alabama. Mr and Mrs. Kilgore lived in Huntsville, Alabama for over 50 years where she worked as a manager for Victors Clothing Store for over 20 of those years.
Mrs. Mable is survived by one brother, Cyril Davis of Huntsville, Alabama. She is also survived by three children, Lena Lunceford of Dumfries Virginia and Grace Camden of Lexington Virginia and James C . Kilgore Jr. of Columbiana Alabama. She had five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
Mrs. Mable was an absolutely wonderful Christian who loved her family, her church, and most importantly her Lord. Her church, the First Baptist Church of Meridianville, was especially important to her and she loved to worship there and she greatly appreciated the deacons giving her a ride to church on Sundays. She was as sharp mentally at the age of 94 as people half her age. She especially loved to cook holiday dinners for her family and, even in her later years when she had trouble seeing, she still found a way to cook those absolutely delicious meals. Mrs. Mable made this world a much better place for all who knew her by her faith, by her Christian example, and by the love that she shared with everyone that she came into contact with. She has now heard the words from her Savior, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
