Mary Rose Dorough

Mary Rose Lantrip Dorough, 91, passed away on February 17, 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Pam Gilliland (Charles), Cindy Brown (Forrest), Resia Schrimsher (Scott), granddaughters Mary Lee Dula (Angelo) and Whitney Swinney (Justin), her sister Betty Sue Smith, sister-in-law Clara Lantrip, brother-in-law Harold Proctor and many loving nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. Dorough, her mother Pearl Evelyn Lantrip, her father Roy G. Lantrip, Sr., her sister Peggy Ann Proctor, her brothers R.G. Lantrip, Jr., Robert Charles Lantrip, and Billy Ray Lantrip and brother-in-law Joe Smith.

Mary Rose was married to John for 72 years. Before their marriage, she was employed by Southern Bell. After marrying Mary Rose was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, She and John moved to Huntsville in 1947. Mary Rose was a member at First Christian Church since moving to Huntsville.

The family would like to acknowledge the extraordinary and loving care that Cheryl Dukette gave to both Mary Rose and John over the last six years. Her devotion to their well-being and comfort could only come from a Christian heart who serves others.

Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road, Huntsville, Alabama 35811 on Saturday, February 24, 2018, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
