Mary Givan Gamble

Mary Givan Gamble of Huntsville passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019.
Born March 18, 1936, in Liberty, Tenn., she was the daughter of Thomas Selden Givan and Imogene Patton Givan. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State College and the University of Maryland. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Paris, France, where she met her future husband, John, who was serving in the Air Force. They returned to the States where they married and raised their three children. Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville and recently celebrated fifty years in Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John T. Gamble. She is survived by her son Mike (Denise) Gamble, daughter Lisa (Brian) Burton, and son Kevin (Rachel) Gamble; her grandchildren Juliana Gamble, Garrett Gamble, Owen Gamble, Avery Gamble, and Molly Burton; her brother John (Whyte) Givan; sister-in-law Mary Jane (Richard) Copeland; her nephews Rick (Karen) Copeland, Craig (Elizabeth) Copeland, Stephen (Kelly) Givan; and nieces Marla Copeland, Julie (Steve) Gaddy, and Sarah (Wayne) Wight.
The Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 3, at noon at First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. Mark Seanor officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. There will be a short graveside service at Valhalla Memory Gardens after the service. Donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
