Maureen Ina Nichols

Maureen Ina Nichols, 76, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023, in Huntsville, AL surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Daniel Michael Devine and Margaret Gartley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters Jean Graff and Eileen Rhodes.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons; Alfred Carbone III (Jamie) of Newington CT, and Daniel Carbone (Wendy) of Huntsville, AL, six grandchildren; Michael, Anthony, Nicolas, Jackson, Samuel, and Sara, and one great-granddaughter; Layla Jane.

Also surviving her are a brother; James Devine, several nieces and nephews who knew her as “Mimi” and many other extended family and friends as well as her fur baby, Romeo.

Maureen worked for the State of Connecticut until she retired. She eventually moved to South Carolina where she enjoyed many years soaking up the sun, walking the beach, collecting shells, participating in community activities, and even serving as Queen Mother of the local Red Hat Society.

Maureen was a kind soul with the most beautiful piercing blue eyes. We will miss everything about her, especially her witty and sarcastic sense of humor.

A private memorial service will be held by her immediate family.
