Mildred Marie Roberts, 84 of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021. Mildred was born in Reseda, California to Jacob and Fannie Roberts. Best known for her beautiful smile and laughing eyes, she was a loving, gentle soul. She has forever touched those who knew her.
Mildred graduated from Arkansas State University with a BS in Education and went on to receive her Masters in Guidance and Counseling at University of Texas at El Paso. She blessed many, working at schools in El Paso, TX and Huntsville, AL. She was a member of First Baptist Church and then Whitesburg Baptist for many years. She loved playing games – especially bridge – and was a member of many social clubs including the Ski Club, Cosmopolitan Club, and Order of the Eastern Star. Most of all, Mildred loved spending time with her precious family and her many dear friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her son Mark Roberts and ex-husband Jerry Roberts.
She is survived by her daughter Joni Grounds (Chris); Sister Betty Roetzel, Grandchildren Maria Andrews (Blaine), Victoria Nance (Tanya), Randall Mummert, Will Mummert, Ashley Miles, Christina Miles, Patrick Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Joshua Grounds, and Jessica Grounds; Great-Grandchildren Chloe Nance, Colton Andrews, Hudson Andrews, Ronan Grounds, and Jaxon Nance; Nephew Ken Roetzel; Niece Donna Humphries (Barry); and many beloved cousins.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 on Saturday at Valhalla Funeral Home. A celebration of Mildred’s life will follow in the chapel.
