Murlayne "Marnie" Funderburg was born on November 30, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee and lived her childhood years in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Murlayne was a U.S. Army Veteran and met her husband in Los Angeles, California while in the Army, whom she remained married to for 51 years. Mrs. Funderburg moved to Huntsville in 1968 and retired from Redstone Arsenal in 2004.
She is survived by her husband; Raymond Funderburg of Toney, Alabama, two sons; Dirk Funderburg (Lauren) of Harvest, Alabama, Darin Funderburg (Cathy) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, 5 Grandchildren; Ashley and Mason Funderburg of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Scott Funderburg of Huntsville, Alabama, Whitney and Reid Tate of Harvest, Alabama, one sister; Sandi Gunther of California.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 3:30 pm at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Valhalla Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday, beginning at 2:30 pm at Valhalla until service time. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
