Patricia Elizabeth Stejskal (Pat) of Huntsville, Alabama passed naturally and peacefully at her home into the loving arms of God the morning of July 26, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends, which reflected the warmth and closeness she brought into all our lives. She was preceded in death by her mother Mary (Mae), father Anthony and beloved and devoted husband William (Bill). Bill and Pat were blessed to share 70 years together.
Pat left a legacy of life of four children, Andrew (Wanda), Eileen (Lonnie), Elaine (Mark) and Andrea. Her beloved grandchildren Deanna (Justin), Jennifer (Charlie), Elizabeth (Will), Michelle, Maria (Jacob), Bridgit (fiancé Cory) and Isabella. In addition, twelve cherished great grandchildren, one loving sister (Dolores), adored nieces and nephews and their families, a sweet cat (Maci) and an affectionate dog (Arley).
Pat was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She always held Chicago dear to her heart. She met her husband at Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, married at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in 1955 and their beautiful love story began…
Pat worked for a variety of businesses including her parents’ furniture store, Chicago Traffic Department, Yale and Towne Mortgage, and Norfolk General Hospital while her husband was serving this great country in the Navy.
They were transferred to Huntsville and Pat received her Real Estate License, which opened opportunities for her to purchase her own property management business. She had an innate ability to make anyone feel loved, supported, and encouraged. Pat was also blessed to maintain relationships, create adventurous memories; like camping, boating, and loving the lake/river with her “GTE” friends.
Pat’s life was also filled with lasting memories of living the “4080 K of C Life”. This provided opportunities for her to express her Catholic faith, charitable heart, generous and selfless acts of service while experiencing shared values with other families and friends. Activities like bowling, bingo, pancake breakfasts, rummage sales, family picnics, Christmas parties and clergy dinners allowed her to celebrate life while instilling faith and family values.
Pat was not only committed to her faith and family; she also truly loved her friends unwavering love and commitment. Keeping her spirits high along with love and heart overflowing when her body was failing. She will miss her time of togetherness, full of laughing, crying, and sharing a lifetime of stories. She held her friends dear to her heart; especially the unconditional support she received in her golden/fragile years by Cheryl, Alberta, Carol, and Pat while playing cards and dominos. Pat also cherished her weekly Eucharistic Sacrament provided by Chris, from Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She has had so many friends she has loved over the decades, many predeceased; but all know that they were always in her heart.
Pat cared for her husband for many years with the assistance of family, friends, and Hospice care. She was able to maintain her strength, body, and heart, also with the faithful commitment of Father Tim Pfander. His ability to help Pat faithfully; recognizing the challenges while supporting her in seeking God’s healing, grace, and inspiration to love more. Father Tim also helped us acknowledge praise and thankfulness to God for his blessings we have, asking for forgiveness, valuing prayer, and seeking God’s will for our lives…
Pat’s legacy was to always have her children love and cherish each other despite their differences, hold family close, live your faith, and trust in God’s plan because no one is promised tomorrow…She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests an expression of sympathy to Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care or Good Shepherd Catholic Church Elderly and Homebound Ministry (online giving available, Faith Direct).
A visitation for Patricia will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Immediately following the Mass will be a luncheon at Good Shepherd. Pat will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
