

Paul Taylor Artis Born June 13, 1931 in Scott Hill, Tennessee. Mother: Lena Mae Dunavant Artis, Father: Henry Clay Artis Married Virginia Louise Shelton on November 26, 1954 in Alcorn County, Mississippi Member of Hillwood Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL where he was a member of the Yesterday Today and Tomorrow Choir, Sunday School Teacher and a Deacon Active in Kiwanis serving as Governor and Lt. Governor Corpsman in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War Retired from NASA where he worked on the Shuttle Program, the Apollo Program, Skylab, The Space Station and the Hubble Telescope. He also retired from Lockheed Martin. He will be greatly missed by his wife Louise Artis of Huntsville; 2 sons, Barry Artis and wife Sandi of Huntsville, Mike Artis and wife Karen of Huntsville; 7 grandchildren: Kelley Patient and husband Ben, Ritchie Davis and wife Amanda, Janet Burnham and husband Tim, Paul A. Artis and Tessa Dixon, Kristen Artis, Steven Artis, and Brandon Artis; 5 great-grandchildren: Blake Daveggio, Addie Davis, Ritchie D. Davis, Johnny Sellers, Brody Sellers; and many nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral service for Mr. Artis will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Hillwood Baptist Church at 3:30 PM with Pastor Charles Freeman officiating, the interment will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 2:30 till service time.
