Paul Anthony Taylor

Madison, AL – Paul Anthony Taylor Sr., 89, of Madison, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026. He was born June 8, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, the youngest son of the late Francis Taylor and Angela (Contardo) Waas. He was also preceded in death by wife of 67 years, Patricia Ann Taylor, stepfather Roy Waas, and granddaughter, MacKenzie Taylor.

A devoted husband and father, Paul is survived by his four children: Paul Taylor Jr. (Mary-Iris); Perry Taylor (Trish); Paige Taylor; and Patrice O’Donnell (John); 14 precious grandchildren; brother Robert Taylor (Marianne); and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and loving friends.

After graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 1955, he attended the University of Dayton. Paul then proudly served in the U.S. Navy, attending Officer Candidate School where he earned the rank of lieutenant and received three medals.

Following his military service, Paul built a successful career in manufacturing, operations, and management consulting, holding senior leadership positions with several companies before establishing his own businesses. While working, he found time to attend the MBA program at Kent State University.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Paul had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, particularly fly-fishing and upland bird shooting. He especially enjoyed the extended family’s annual trip to South Dakota to hunt pheasant where he took pride in teaching younger generations the art of his hobby. He also was an avid golfer and sports fan, and took great pleasure in traveling – visiting all 50 states and numerous countries with Pat and their children.

A life-long Catholic, Paul was an active supporter of St. Saint Ignatius High School, participating in many activities and golf outings, and was an honorary (non-Irish) member of its Hibernian Club where he and Pat regularly enjoyed the company of many dear friends.

Above all, Paul cherished his family. He and Pat built a life filled with love, adventure, and lasting memories. His legacy lives on through the generations of family who loved him and the many friends whose lives he touched.
