Peggy Yvonne Harris, 74, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born on December 26, 1951, Peggy devoted her life to her family, her faith, and the children she served throughout her career in education. For 30 years, she served in the Attalla City and Huntsville City School Systems as a teacher, principal, and administrator. She was a gifted educator and compassionate leader who inspired students, encouraged fellow educators, and believed every child had the potential to succeed.
Peggy’s greatest joy was her family. She shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bob Harris, building a life centered on love, faith, and unwavering commitment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ophelia and Barney Lett; her son, Jonathan Harris; and her beloved son-in-law, Jim Brown.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Bob Harris; her daughter, Laura Brown; her cherished grandchildren, Trinity Smith (Reid), Noah Brown, Harrison Brown, and Preston Brown; and her sisters, Charlotte Willis, Carolyn Oakes (Butch), and Nancy Hughes (Sandy). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former students, and colleagues who will forever treasure her memory.
Peggy’s faith in Jesus Christ guided her life. She faithfully lived out her beliefs through kindness, generosity, and genuine compassion for others. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and servant’s heart touched countless lives and will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Though her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in the promise of eternal life and find comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Big Oak Ranch or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Peggy’s love for children and her lifelong commitment to serving others.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the service to follow.
