Robert Walter Clopp

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife Joan F Clopp; his devoted daughters Susan Clopp Phillips and Sharon Clopp Glenn and his sons Robert John Clopp and Joseph Michael Clopp. He is survived by his sister Mary Clopp Collins of Winter Haven, FL, Janet Clopp Jordan of Franklin, IN and Nancy Clopp Pruitt of Sevierville, TN. Bob was born on a farm in Greenville, Ohio and worked odd jobs to save enough money to attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan where he met his wife, Joan. Bob joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was stationed at Redstone Arsenal with the US Army Missile Command. After leaving the military, Bob joined the Civil Service and worked in the Patriot Project office in support of the OTT (Operator Tactical Trainer) program. After retiring from Civil Service, Bob worked with the government contractor Coleman Research. He and his wife Joan were extensively involved with Marriage Encounter, giving workshops all across the continental United States.

Bob was an avid golfer and fan of Ohio State football. His kind heart and generous spirit gained him friends wherever he went. He devoted his life to the care of his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren often working more than one job to make ends meet. Toward the end of his life he devoted his entire self to the love of his life, his wife, Joan, until he passed away of congestive heart failure. Tireless, inventive and persistent, he was the paragon of a devoted husband and a good friend in times of need. He will be greatly mourned and sorely missed by those lives whom he touched. Bob never celebrated the acts of kindness he bestowed on others, and there are too many he performed to relate here. He made the world a better place for everyone he met. His like will never be seen in this world again.

A Visitation with Rosary for Robert will be held Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. A Funeral Mass will occur Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2300 Beasley Ave NW, Huntsville, AL.
