Ruth Fisher Riggs, age 68, of Owens Cross Road, Alabama stepped into eternity on Thursday, February 18, 2021. Ruth was born November 18, 1952 in Louisville, Kentucky to Freda Fisher and Wilton Fisher.

Ruth was an avid lover of animals, the ocean, and reading. She loved to cross stitch and made some beautiful quilts, all hand stitched. She was a brilliant mathematician and accountant and worked for the city of Huntsville for for about 15 years, and for Teledyne Technologies for over 25 years. Although she never had children of her own, she gladly accepted the role of step-mom to Robin Dawn Riggs Voss (Justin Voss) of Seattle, WA. She loved her niece and nephew as her own and always treated them with generosity and an open door.

Ruth is survived by sister Carolyn Fisher Garland, niece Gretchen Garland Gipson (Kevin Gipson) of Huntsville, AL, nephew Wilton Scott Garland (Samantha Strazay) of Woodstock, GA, and three great-nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by father Wilton Travis Fisher and mother Freda Carolyn Blosch Fisher. Ruth will be cremated and her ashes spread according to her wishes. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to A New Leash on Life, the Cattyshack, or the The ARC of Huntsville. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valhallafunerals.com for the Riggs family.

In loving memory of Ruth Fisher Riggs, even though I didn't have the pleasure of working with Ms. Ruth long at TBE before she moved over to working for Corporate, but she left a lasting impression on me. She was a very caring, kind hearted person that would do her best to help anyone. Thank you Ms. Ruth for being so nice and kind to me. May you now be blessed with eternal life.

With deepest sympathies.
