Retired Army SFC Donald E. Rowe, of Gurley, AL, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020 in the presence of his beloved wife, five of his six daughters and their husbands, Teresa and Mike Voss, Wanda Brady, Linda and Brian Lutz, Donna and Jerry Sullivan, Sheila and Eddie Pack, Kristina and Darryl McPeters; and honorary daughter, Lisa Green. All reside in Gurley or Huntsville, AL. All of Mr. Rowe’s 15 grandchildren and many of his 15 great grandchildren were also present as he transitioned to Glory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Alice Rowe and several of his 12 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Lockhart Rowe and his six daughters; grandchildren, great grandchildren; and one great- great grandson.
He was devoted to his beloved wife and large family, his dogs, red roses and daily working on building “projects”. Mr. Rowe served two tours in Korea and was a Purple Heart recipient. He faithfully attended New Market Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Valhalla Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at Valhalla Funeral Home on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 6-8pm.
