STEPHANIE FLO ROTH POTTS January 28, 1943 – May 1, 2016 Stephanie F. Potts, 73, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, the first of May, surrounded by love and her family. Mrs. Potts was preceded in death by her parents, Charles David and Lera West Potts, and her loving husband of 13 years, James William Potts. Left to cherish her precious memory are her 2 daughters, Monica Yother (Tom) of Huntsville, and Tanya Potts Aanonsen (Carsten) of Oslo, Norway; 2 brothers, Rodney Roth (Cindy) of Vero Beach, FL and Steve Roth (LaJuana) of Victoria, TX; a sister, Sylvia Wendt of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Claudia and Nicolas Aanonsen, and Thomas Evan and Frances Erin Yother; a host of nieces and nephews; her beloved daschhund “Sassie”; and several very close neighbors and friends. Stephanie loved the Lord with all her heart, and her life was filled with family, adventure and creativity. She was born in Lima Peru, and throughout her life lived in Uruguay, Mexico City, Mexico; New York, New York; Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; Tucson, Arizona; Victoria, Texas and Huntsville, Alabama. She was a loving wife and mother, and an inspiring and nurturing mother. As a teenager she modeled in New York, and later assisted her husband, Jimmy, on many tv productions. She worked as a caregiver for the elderly for many years, a position she gave her heart and soul to, like everything else she did. She could be described as gentle, loving, generous, forgiving, determined, fiercely independent and intelligent. The life lessons she passed on were to listen and follow your heart, be kind and respectful to everyone, help and guide those in need, be gentle and generous with loved ones and to laugh and have fun! Stephanie loved world history and culture; she immersed herself in the Ancient cultures of the Incas, Toltecs, Mayans and Aztecs and took many trips to ancient ruins in Mexico. She was also very creative and wrote deeply spiritual poetry, made furniture and wrote stories for her grandchildren, and painted. She delighted friends and family with her character, Flo; part caregiver, part angel who appeared in a local magazine for several years. She always thought of how she could help others and was glad to translate English and Spanish. The family wishes to extend special thanks to her dear friend Mary Hoven, Clearview Cancer Care, especially Dr. Marshall Shreeder and Nurse Leigh Ann Childress, Family Hospice Care, and her friends and neighbors. You may visit with the family on Saturday, March 7, 2016 at Valhalla Funeral Home from 1-2pm. A chapel funeral service conducted by Martha Garcia will commence at 2:00PM Saturday in Valhalla’s Chapel. The inurnment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Garden’s Chapel of Peace Mausoleum.
