Melvin is preceded in death by his father, Ottis Walter Price; and his brother, Kenny Price.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Price of Huntsville; his mother Lorine Elliott of Mississippi; his sons Derrick Price (Brandy) of Huntsville, and Jeremy Price (Ashlie) of Huntsville; his daughters Jamie Lynch (Davar) of Huntsville, and Katie Brady of Birmingham; a sister Teresa Price; a brother Doyle Price (Karen) of Huntsville; and his grandchildren Jada, Caison, Aubrey, Aiden, and Emalee Price, Serenity Lynch, Bryson Burnette, Lily and Lola Eaton, Cullen, Briley, and Chase Brady, Allie, Jace, and Landon Golson; and many nieces and nephews.

Melvin was a one of a kind man, that never met a stranger. He would’ve given the shirt off his back to anyone at the drop of a hat. You never seen this man out and about without a smile on his face. He was loved by his family tremendously, and many others who became like family. Melvin LOVED playing pool with his friends and was an honored member of a pool league for many years where he brought home multiple championships. Of all the great things he has seen and done in his life, his biggest accomplishment was that he was the epitome of a “family” man, his family was the apple of his eye, and he would never hesitate to let anyone know that. Melvin was a husband and a father who loved with all he had and his family felt that love through his sacrifices he willingyly made for them daily, at the end of the day he went to bed feeling blessed knowing that he did all he could to provide, love, nourish, and guide his family. He was a man of many talents, but his most precious talent by far was the ability to love his people unconditionally. Melvin never missed a chance to be there for his wife/kids/grandkids through any endeavour they chose in life, cheering them on and being their biggest supporter. His favorite thing to do was watch his son, Jeremy Price race at the Huntsville Speedway, or spending time with any of his grandbabies. Melvin was the best paw paw to his grandchildren, and they all adored him and felt that same unconditional love that he gave his wife and children over the years. Melvin will be missed by many, no doubt, but he will leave behind such a huge legacy of love. His heart was gold, and his family will rest in comfort knowing that their “big guy” is no longer suffering, and he is rejoicing with Jesus and watching over them proudly. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valhallafunerals.com for the Price family. “Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” James 4:14

Pallbearers will include; Riley Skinner, Jason Pope, Napaul Pope, Chris Colgan, Dylan Price, Brad Pope, Kenny Barecky, and Skyler Barecky.

I don’t think there’s anyone that doesn’t love Melvin aka Big Daddy. I have so many fun memories of him that I’m grateful to have. Also no one can say he didn’t love his kids. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Even if they had done something bone headed, they knew he loved them. Rest In Peace my friend.
Love you
Donna

Melvin was a great guy and a loyal friend. He was a team mate who would coach everyone on a level they could relate to. He always had a kind word and would never lie on anyone. He had strong morals and a kind heart. He sold me his last motorcycle and I will always remember him when I ride. We would have lunch ever once in a while. Thank you for your friendship Melvin.
