We are deeply saddened by the news of Captain Bill's passing. A proud World War II Navy veteran, Capt Bill shared his stories of tragedy and triumph from the USS Yorktown and the Battle of Midway with many of us, and had an amazing memory of specific details that happened many years ago. He was a great teller of stories and we had many conversations, enjoying getting to know him better.

Capt Bill was quite a fixture around the Senior Center and many folks knew him there. He volunteered for our AARP Tax Aide Program, coming in daily to help us out with our phone calling. Never asking for thanks, he came, did his job, and left. He was always full of war stories and good old fashioned humor. We will miss him greatly.

Thank you for your service Capt Howard. Rest in peace Sir.
Your friends and co-volunteers from the Huntsville Senior Center
