Willie Jean Manning, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama died on June 17, 2020 in Huntsville, Alabama of heart failure. Born August 19, 1936 to Curtis Chester and Mary Chester in Columbus, Georgia, she married Curtis Manning (CSM Retired) on February 14, 1969 in her hometown.
She was a registered nurse for nearly 20 years. She and Curtis traveled the world as a military family until he retired 1991 in Huntsville, where she taught with the Montessori Schools for several years and was a longtime member of the Redstone Arsenal’s Bicentennial Chapel.
She is survived by her husband Curtis Manning (CSM Retired), her son Christopher Manning and Cate Wood (San Diego, CA), Priscilla and Steve Cook (Hillsborough Place, SC), Deborah Manning (Dothan, Alabama), her sister Michalene Chester, her sister JoAnn Chester (Douglasville, GA) and a large number of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4pm-6pm on June 20, 2020 at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens at 698 Winchester Road Northeast, Huntsville, Alabama 35811 and the Homecoming Services will be held at the same location at 2pm on June 21, 2020.
