Yoshiko Sakihara Machnica

Yoshiko Sakihara Machnica, 87, died Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Huntsville, AL surrounded by her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Seibu and Ushi Sakihara, and husband, Raymond Machnica. She is survived by her brother Seiichi, sisters Yuriko and Yukiko, brother Moriharu and sister Keiko; son and spouse, Michael and Rhonda Machnica; daughter Susan (Machnica) Hunter; son and spouse, John and Susan Machnica; son Robert Machnica, and also 6 grandchildren.

Yosh was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. She married Raymond Machnica in 1963 while he was stationed in Okinawa while in the U.S. Army. She moved to the U.S. shortly after and has spent the last 40 years living in the Huntsville area with her family. She was a seamstress by trade and enjoyed making custom draperies and window treatments, especially for family and friends.

You may visit with the family from 12:00-2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Valhalla Funeral Home. A short service will be held following visitation at 2:00. The interment will be held immediately following at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

I was Mrs Yoshiko caregiver for a month. Wish i knew her longer. What a beautiful kind sprint. RIP.

My family lived on Broadmor Rd and were neighbors (friends). My brother, sister and I remember Mrs. Machnica. A very nice lady.
