Albert Rene Trevino (59), also known as Rene Trevino, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on May 8, 2025. Albert was born on November 4, 1965, in Gary, Indiana. He was raised by his mother, Socorro, and lived with his brother, Raul and his sister, Marcie. Albert was also surrounded by an extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins and in his early years, his loving grandparents, Toribio and Guadalupe Morales.
After high school, Albert moved to Bloomington, Indiana to attend Indiana University. While in Bloomington, music and biking became two of Albert’s passions. He once rode his bike from Bloomington to Gary and back (199 miles each way) just for fun! He managed the band, Johnny Socko, worked at Jake’s Nightclub, and had a fantastic time. In fact, Albert had so much fun, he didn’t have time to go to class. Eventually, Albert moved to Indianapolis to attend Ivy Tech Community College and obtained a degree in Culinary Arts. He also spent time in Paris developing his craft. European pastry became his tour de force.
Albert’s dream was to be able to offer affordable fresh pastries for everyone. It didn’t take long for his dream to become reality. Rene’s Bakery, Inc. had its grand opening in March 2004. Albert initially started with a small staff and a handful of products. Over time, he was able to expand, and Rene’s became one of the finest bakeries in the Midwest. Albert received numerous accolades for his work.
Albert was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in April 2023. He fought hard to survive with the help of his loving and devoted partner of 10 years, Ana. Excellent medical care was provided by Drs. Greg Durm, Kate Nevel, and Matt Pease. With generous support from the community, his medical bills were paid through a GoFundMe medical account opened by his daughter, Olivia. Albert and his family cannot express their thanks and gratitude enough for the care, financial, and emotional support provided by all.
Albert embraced life with enthusiasm, zeal and an adventurous spirit; he was always looking forward to what the future would bring.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Socorro Padilla (Morales), his father, Gilberto Trevino, his uncle’s Seville, Andrew, Anthony Michael and Frank Morales, his aunts Rose Ibarra (Morales) and Theresa Torres (Morales), and his cousins Edward and Arthur Ibarra.
Those who remain to carry on his memory are many and include his two beautiful children, Olivia Renee (22) and Nicholas James (18); Albert’s cherished partner, Ana Rosales, and her children, Luis and Lesly; his sister, Marcie Padilla and brother, Raul Padilla as well as his uncle's Hilbert, Ralph, Robert and Guadalupe (Lupe) Morales, Albert’s niece Christina, and loads of cousins. Last but not least, Albert’s “brother from another mother”, Matt Schuler.
