Amy Elizabeth (Johnson) Vita, 54, of Sheridan, passed away April 3, 2025. She was born September 9, 1970 in Indianapolis to James E. and Kathleen C. (Baker) Johnson. Amy was a graduate of Chatard High School, class of 1989. She was an Ophthalmic Technician.
Amy is survived by her children, Allison (Brandon) Vita Trobaugh, Rebecca Vita, Jacob (Brooke Rogers) Vita; grandchildren, Sophia, Scarlett, and Sadie Vita Trobaugh, and youngest grandchild, Miguel Lovato; mother, Kathleen C. Johnson; and siblings, Colleen (Craig) Miller, Aaron (Bridget) Johnson, and Meghan Ernsberger; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, James Johnson; paternal grandparents, James and Helen Johnson; and maternal grandparents, Hugh and Frances Baker.
Amy was a kind, generous and loving person with an infectious laugh. She spent more than thirty years working in the optometric field with several different practices, the most recent being Riley Pediatric Ophthalmology. She loved her job and especially loved working with children. Her upbeat personality and smile calmed many young children and parents during her career. Her true passion in life was her children and grandchildren. As a mom she spent endless hours at the baseball and softball fields and attending all her kids activities. As a grandma she loved spending time with her grandkids and having special days devoted just to what they wanted to do. Amy was generous to a fault; on multiple occasions she opened up her home to friends in need and was always the first to help a struggling friend or family member. Her beautiful smile and kind spirit will be forever missed.
