Barbara Clark Hoster

Barbara Clark Hoster, age 91, died at home in Carmel, IN on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Barb was born March 31, 1933 in Gary, Indiana to Lynette Rynerson Clark and Basil Byron Clark. Her siblings, John Clark (Sue) and Richard Clark (Carol), were an important part of both her childhood and later in life as their families expanded. Barbara graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, IN in 1951. After graduating from Indiana University with a degree in English and Spanish, this Kappa Alpha Theta married her Sigma Chi sweetheart, George Hoster (deceased) and moved to Ft. Lewis, Washington where George would serve as a Captain in the Army. Though George’s career took them to Texas for a few years, Indianapolis became Barb and George’s permanent home. Barb was an active volunteer serving in The Children’s Museum Guild, Junior League, Girl Scouts, and as a Sunday school teacher in St. Lukes Methodist Church, but those who know her will immediately remember her love of music and prowess as a pianist. Barbara and George shared a unique love story celebrating 66 years of marriage. Their family, together with daughters Cindi Sparenblek (Allen) and Julie Meiners (Steve), enjoyed countless memories, including summers at the family cottage on Crooked Lake, spring breaks in Florida and extended family gatherings at the holidays. Their grandchildren, Matt (Danielle), Lisa (John), Anni and Josh (Rebbeca), and the latest addition of 4 great grandsons brought incredible joy to Barb.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 3:00 pm.at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN.
