

Barbara Ann Gregg Stark, 92, of Indianapolis, passed from this world to the next on October 2, 2025 at home with her loving family at her side. She was Born in Indianapolis on December 28,1932 and was the devoted only child of Lulu (Burghard) and Robert Gregg.
She is survived by four children; Gregg Stark (Robin), Lynn Lawless (Don), Karen Caldemeyer (Mark) and Leisa Merrell (Tom). Gamie is also survived by grandchildren Megan Lawless Searles (Reid), Molly Lawless Vance (Austin), Andrew Stark, Rob Malad (Andrea), Sarah Malad, Rick Malad (Lisa) , Lauren Caldemeyer (Jeff Trojan deceased), John Caldemeyer, Emma Merrell (Luke), Sam Merrell, Sarah Merrell, Faith Stark, Bella Stark, Lillian Stark and Great grandchildren Madeline and Rowan Searles and Olivia and Anne Vance.
Family was everything to Barbara and some of her best memories were from times at the family cottage in Wisconsin.
Barbara was the devoted wife to the love of her life, John Stark with whom she shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. She was a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, graduating from Shortridge High School in 1951 where she made lifelong friends. She attended Miami (Ohio) University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta, and graduated from Indiana University with a BA degree in Education and Art. After graduating, she taught school and worked at several different advertising agencies before having four children.
Barbara became interested in art when she received a scholarship to John Herron School in Junior High. After her children began school, she studied with many local and national artists. She worked in several different mediums, but settled on watercolor painting as her true passion. She exhibited in and was awarded in many juried shows over the years, and sold art in many local galleries. Barbara was a cardinal and signature member of the Indiana Watercolor Society, Hoosier Salon, Indiana Artists, Southside Art League, Headwaters Art League and the Indianapolis Art Center.
She donated time and resources to many different organizations including Indiana School for the Blind, St. Vincent's Hospital, Girl Scouts of America, Campfire Girls and Fletcher place. She found sanctuary at St. Luke's United Methodist church where she was a 60 year member. There she actively volunteered and had many friendships. She was also a former member of Meridian Hills Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stark and her parents Lulu and Robert Gregg.
The family would like to thank all of Barbara's special caregivers who took wonderful care of her. A celebration of life for Barbara will be held November 22, 2025 at Marquette Manor Foundation Hall at 5:30pm.
Private Inurnment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Barbara's name to St. Luke's United Methodist Church or to The American Heart Association.
