Bonnie Jean Bourdeau-Morin

Bonnie Jean Bourdeau-Morin,75, passed away peacefully at home on February 18, 2026. She spent the last year under Gentiva home hospice care where she was able to enjoy life to its fullest. Special thanks to our dear hospice angels on earth- Maxine & Abby who cared for her to the end. Bonnie was born on January 26, 1951, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Albert C. Bourdeau and Mary Margaret Higginbotham. Bonnie graduated high school in 1969 in Sylvania, Ohio. She got married in 1981, right before the birth of her daughter. Bonnie moved to Indianapolis with her family in 1985 after the birth of her son. She was married to Jerome “Jerry” for 22 years, and they remained friends over the years.

Bonnie worked in insurance and then as a patient care technician before she graduated in 2000 from Indiana University School of Nursing. She went on to serve her community as a cardiac critical care nurse at St. Vincent Hospital, The Heart Center, and agency nursing. Bonnie loved nursing with all of her heart and was a caretaker to so many. Bonnie was also a dedicated advocate and volunteer for the Indiana Donor Network since 2009.

She loved animals and flowers. Bonnie loved to crochet, Wordle, play Words with Friends, and was known as a cherished friend to all and a second mom to many. Bonnie’s most favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, and especially her beloved grandchildren. She was a GiGi, Nana, and $2 Grandma to many kids she cared about over the years. Bonnie also loved her kitty cat, Katniss more than anything- the last words she spoke were to Katniss.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Roy Higginbotham; her son, Scott Morin; her ex-husband, Jerome Morin; and her brother, William Bourdeau. She is survived by her daughter, Sara Bartelmann; son-in-law, Doug Bartelmann; grandson, Oliver; granddaughter Violet; sister, Sandi Giebel; and sister, Robin Dezanett.

Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary - Nora, 740 East 86th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 1:00 PM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Dr. E., Indianapolis, IN 46260 with a burial immediately following at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 9001 Haverstick Road, Indianapolis, IN 46240
