

Candice Lynn Skillman, better known as “Candy”, passed away Saturday May 23, 2026 at the age of 67 with David, Michael and Carrie at her side. She is the youngest of five children and pre-deceased by her mother, Virginia (Ginger), her father Russell and her brother Jeffrey. She is survived by brothers Russell Jr.(Marie) Skillman, Michael (Mary) Skillman and David (Carrie) Skillman, three nieces, Crystal (Fred) Van Lente, Katie (Chris) Geik and grand niece Nora, Grace Skillman and nephew Michael Alan (Whitney) Skillman and grand nephew Merick, grand niece Westyn.
Born in Manasquan, NJ on March 13th, 1959, and if you were lucky enough to know her, she would tell you when her birthday was coming up. Candy’s family moved to Indianapolis in 1971 to 57th and Washington Blvd. A huge Purdue, Colts, Pacer, Fever and Indianapolis 500 fan. You could always tell when one of them was playing because Candy was dressed in full sporting attire including shoelaces. If you lived in the neighborhood, you might have even heard her cheering for one of her favorite teams.
Candy attended Cold Spring School until she was 21. From there, she worked at Noble Industries on Tibbs drive for 43 years until she retired in 2025. She was a passionate bowler with the Trailblazers on Saturday mornings at Woodland bowl. She attended First Baptist Church in Nora. You could often find her and her mother down by the canal feeding the ducks as part of their walk. She loved everyone she met and was always happy. She loved going fast with her brothers in their cars or on their motorcycles.
A celebration of life will be held at Leppert Mortuary, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis on Friday, May 29th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a short service to follow.
