

David Arthur Powell, 81, of Indianapolis, passed away at his home on Monday, June 8, 2026. David was born August 21, 1944 in Indianapolis to the late Charles & Wilma (Cook) Powell. He grew up in Indianapolis where he attended school. He earned his business degree at Franklin College where he also played baseball. David built a successful career selling pharmaceuticals for 30+ years, though he was always most proud of his work as the Director of Operations at a local infusion center.
David was a kind and gentle soul who cherished his loving family above all else. He passionately supported his daughters and granddaughters in all of their endeavors and never missed an opportunity to be their biggest cheerleader at various activities.David was preceded in death by his first wife, Maureen Powell; daughter, Megan Dart and sister, Judith Ramsey.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Edith “Edi” Otterson Powell; devoted daughters, Ann (Ryan) Popa & Ellie (fiancé Daniel Frausto) Powell, son-in-law, Michael Dart; grateful granddaughters, Bella & Evie Dart and Anya & Ailie Popa; cherished brother Edward (Janet) Powell; best friend Joe Lingenfelter, and a host of dear nieces and nephews.
The family will gather privately to celebrate his life.
