Derry’s life was marked by steady devotion to family, faith, and community, and by a genuine enjoyment of the people and places that filled his days. He carried himself with quiet purpose and an openhearted regard for others, leaving an enduring impression on those who knew him.
Derry attended Eastern High School and Lain Technical School, and continued his education at Purdue University indianapolis. His commitment to learning and for his craft became the foundation of a distinguished professional life.
Derry served in the Indiana National Guard (a component of the US Army). He was a registered Architect and a Member of American Institute of Architects. He worked at Wright, Porteous and Lowe, architects, where he was a partner and later, in partnership with John T Lamson, formed Lamson and Condon Architects—work that reflected both discipline and vision, and a lifelong pride in building well and thoughtfully.
Derry loved people, IU football and basketball, the San Fransico Giants, golf, fishing, gardening, and vacationing in Gulf Shores. Whether following a favorite team, tending a garden, or enjoying time outdoors, he found simple pleasures worth savoring and shared them readily with others.
Service to others remained a constant in Derry’s life. He volunteered at Golden Circle Sertoma, Haverford Little League, and CYO, where he was awarded the Monsignor Busard Award and the John Bosco Award—recognitions that reflected years of faithful presence and generous effort.
Derry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia (Trish) Condon; his son, Courtney Condon (Sarah); his daughter, Katie Alkire (Brian); his sister, Billie Lou Bankoff (David); and his brother, Denny Condon (Brenda).
