Obituary of Dorothy "Dottie" Louise Dickinson
Dorothy Louise Stonestreet Dickinson passed peacefully, January 14, 2021, at the home of her son, Douglas Dickinson, Indianapolis, Indiana. Dottie was born April 12, 1932 in Louisville, Ky to Hubert A. Stonestreet and Eleanor (Young) Stonestreet. Dottie graduated from Atherton High School for girls in Louisville, Ky and went on to attend Butler University in Indianapolis. While at Butler, Dottie was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She met her late husband Robert (Bob) Dickinson when she was 14 years old at The Kentucky Military Institute school dance. They remained friends until college when Bob pursued her and won her heart. Bob was the love of her life as they were married for 60 years. They raised three children in Indianapolis and were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Dottie was very active in the Boys Club Auxiliary, Stansfield Circle and Antiquarian Club. She and her friend, Carol Brown, turned their love of antiques into Dickinson-Brown Antiques. But Dottie’s greatest joy in life was spending time and making memories with her husband, children and grandchildren at Lake Wawasee and Siesta Key Florida. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Sagehorn, of Barrington, Ill., sons, David Dickinson and Doug (Karen) Dickinson of Indianapolis. Grandchildren, Kate Clapp, Scott Sagehorn, Anne Mannelly, Laura Sagehorn, Kristina Ricco, Christopher Dickinson, Analise Dickinson, Julie Dant, Andrew Dickinson and Austin Dickinson. Great Grandchildren, Ben and Saige Clapp, Luke, Ryan and Will Sagehorn, Jack and Claire Mannelly, Tommy Sankey, Luke Ricco, Liam, Beau, Georgia and Vincent Dant and Vivienne Roussere Dickinson. Cousin, Cooper Stonestreet, Charleston, South Carolina and five nieces and two nephews. Dottie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Dickinson, parents Hubert and Eleanor Stonestreet, Aunt Alma Young and mother and father- in-law George and Eleanor Dickinson. The family wishes to thank the wonderful caretakers for Dottie, Miss Denise, Chodonna and hospice nurse Amy and Casey from Brighton Hospice. Thank you for all your love and care to our Mother!
