Elsie "Alice" Ann Spurlin, a beloved and resilient woman, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on September 21, 1924, in Racine, Wisconsin, Alice was known for her adventurous spirit and hard-working nature. She was a faithful and honest individual who touched the lives of many.
Alice was one of four children and graduated from Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin. During her life, she was a true "Rosie the Riveter," working on military aircraft during the war as a war bride. Her dedication and resilience were evident in her contributions during this pivotal time in history.
On April 17, 1943, she married Charles D. Spurlin in Racine, Wisconsin. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. Alice enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening, especially tending to her flower gardens. Later in life, she developed a fondness for slot machines.
Alice was also actively involved in her community, serving as a precinct committee woman for many years. Her commitment to her faith was a testament to her hard-working and faithful character.
Alice is survived by her son, Dennis (Carolyn); grandchildren, Jennifer (Nick) Worman and Amanda (Jack) Simmons; great-grandchildren, Tanner (Aurora) Worman, Savannah (Austin Paskett) Worman, Olivia Simmons, and Cooper Simmons; and great-great-grandchildren, Harper Paskett and Harrison Paskett, along with other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings, Charles and Victor Stefka, Mary Lou Riffer; and great-grandson Zachary Worman.
Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1401 S. Mickley Ave, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time.
