Obituary of George Francis McMullen
George Francis McMullen (84) of Indianapolis passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by those who loved him, on May 20, 2023. George was born on August 10, 1938 to John and Antoinette (Dorn) McMullen. He was one of nine children and maintained a close and loving relationship with his siblings, which included fun trips and game nights. George graduated from Cathedral High School and went on to serve in the US Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. He was hard working since a young age and would go on to own his own janitorial business, known as “Let George Do It”, for over 20 years. He then went on to become an insurance agent with Farm Bureau Insurance, where he retired from in 2005. His retirement, however, was mostly spent giving his time and energy to the service of others. He worked tirelessly and unselfishly as a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry and also gave his time and treasure to the mission of Right to Life Indianapolis. He also served as block captain in his neighborhood (Greenbriar) and was known to his neighbors as someone they could always depend on to help out. Most of all, George loved his family. He married the love of his life, Martina “Tina” (McMasters) McMullen on November 4, 1972, who preceded him in death. They went on to raise six children, whom he has taught by example how to love fully. He is survived by his sons: Jeffrey Kirch, Paul Kirch, Andy Kirch and Christopher “Buddy” (wife Tomika) McMullen and his daughters: Joni Kirch and Laura (husband Steve) Weiger. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren: Brian, Shannyn, Jensen, Quintin, Jimmy, Jack, Wyatt, Ciera, Kennedy, Ruthanne, Josh, Giovanni, Milli, Maryn, and Paityn as well as his great grandchildren. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and legacy on Monday June 12th 4:00-8:00 pm at Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 13th at 11:00am with a short visitation from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive East, Indianapolis, Indiana. You are invited to visit the website www.leppertmortuary.com to share a memory of George or arrange a memorial contributions to Right to Life of Indianapolis.
