

August 31, 2024, Gregg Charles Homola, 65, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife of 29 (partner of 37) years, Jenny, at his side. Early that morning, the clouds lifted, and the angels ushered him to heaven after a long journey battling multiple myeloma blood cancer.
Gregg was a 1977 graduate of Bishop Chatard (BC) High School, a key standout on the Trojans’ two consecutive city football championships, a recipient of the BC Wall of Fame for football, first team all-city laurels in football, and an athletic football scholarship to the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH. Gregg studied Business Management at Dayton University, graduating in 1981.
He retired from Robert Dietrick Company after 37 ½ years, holding positions ranging from Sales Rep to Planned Maintenance Specialist. Gregg had a lifetime of achievements in his various roles and was instrumental as a key resource in the company’s growth and success.
He was highly active throughout his entire life, from childhood sports, camping and fishing with his family, and learning to hunt with his father.
Gregg was an accomplished powerlifter in bench pressing earning numerous state and national titles in the drug free division of his 220 lb. weight class.
He and Jenny were passionate about the outdoors, traveling, and fishing together in the FL Keys, Hawaii, Bahamas, Louisiana, and Michigan. Gregg received multiple Metropolitan South Florida Fishing Tournament citations for catch and release of Atlantic Sailfish, Snook, and Tarpon. Gregg earned consecutive Master Angler fish certifications in 2016-2020 from Michigan for catch and release of Muskellunge including one measuring 52.5 inches from Lake Saint Clair, MI. He was an accomplished hunter traveling to Wyoming and harvesting a Boone and Crocket North American Big Game Pronghorn, and Mule Deer. He was passionate about turkey hunting in the spring and fall.
He also spent much of his life enjoying time with Jenny cooking, listening to jazz, drinking bourbon and wine, watching horse racing, loving animals of all walks (known as the dog whisperer), hanging out on their lake, celebrating holidays, watching football and hockey, and a roaring fire in their fireplace.
Gregg was predeceased by his mother Rosemary A. (Bettin) Homola, who died August 14, 1974 and father Glenn L. Homola, who died March 29, 2015.
He is survived by his loving wife Jennifer L. (Wooldridge) Homola; brother Kenneth J. (Thelma) Homola; in-laws, Stephen E. and Kathryn L. (Steffey) Wooldridge; and brothers-in law, David G. (Mariam) Wooldridge (David deceased April 2, 2021) and Stephen C. (Jodi) Wooldridge. Nephews, nieces, and grands, Devon (Nicole) Wooldridge, Beau, Colton, and Jaxon; Jackie (Wooldridge) (Demetri) Venets and Stelio; Blake (Gabrielle) Wooldridge, Mikey and Mia; Hollyn (Josh) Wooldridge and Josh Jr..
Visitation for Gregg will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana followed by Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM. A celebration of life reception will follow at 12:30 PM at Northside Events and Social Club, 2100 E. 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.
