JoAnne Cecilia Jones, 90, of Indianapolis, died peacefully in St. Vincent Hospital on Sunday morning, September 26. JoAnne was born on August 1, 1936, to John Francis and Sara Jane Behringer in Indianapolis. A lifelong Catholic and a devoted parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church, she had a special devotion to St. Francis and, like him, loved animals.
Employed by L. Strauss and Company for many years and later by Jacobsen’s and MCL, JoAnne was an avid Colts Football fan and was very proud of the years she was part of the Colts workforce at Lucas Stadium, Indianapolis. She loved Bazbeaux Pizza, talking to friends, watching the Colts and Pacers games on TV and shopping year round for Christmas presents.
JoAnne’s survivors include her husband, Roy Jones, her stepchildren Donna Fenison, Roy Jones, Jr. and Michael Jones; her brother John and his wife Sandra; her nephews Matthew Behringer, Marc Behringer, Paul Behringer & Joseph Behringer; 16 grand nieces and nephews and relatives and friends who will always cherish the memory of little “Aunt Jo” whose family was her dearest love.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:30 in St. Luke Catholic Church. Calling will be one hour prior in the Fr. Courtney Room. Following the Mass, JoAnne will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
