Joshua Edward Bremner

March 16, 1989January 10, 2020

Joshua Edward Bremner, the true heart and soul of the Bremner family, passed into God's hands on January 10th, 2020. He was 30 years old. Born March 16, 1989 in Indianapolis, he was the youngest son of James and Gina (Nessler) Bremner and brother to Matthew Louis Bremner. Josh attended Park Tudor School and graduated in 2008. Throughout middle school and high school he attended and graduated from the Culver Summer Schools program as a member of Company 1. Growing up, Josh was active in scouting and served as an acolyte and crucifer at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Pure joy for Josh was spending summers on Lake Maxinkuckee with his extended family, water skiing, sailing and bicycling. Throughout his life, he was a passionate, big-hearted young man with many interests. He had friends from all over the world as he had the ability to converse with anyone and cared about people. He loved the outdoors, animals, and nature and was inquisitive about everything.

Josh always endeavored to aid those in need, most recently a trip to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands where he helped in the Hurricane relief program for 3 months. The greatest love of all for Josh was time spent with his large family.

His grandparents, Janet and Edward Bremner and Maureen and Ralph Nessler, precede Josh in death. He is survived by his loving parents Jim and Gina Bremner of Indianapolis and his older brother Matthew (Carley) Bremner of Carmel and his nephews Lucas and Reid Bremner. He was adored by his extended family: Lindsey and David Flaherty, Ellen and Michael Valentine, Sharon and Roy Bremner and cousins Sarah (Mike) Webster, Russell (Dana) Bremner, David (Shawn) Valentine, Lindsey (Fred) Martinez, Laura Valentine, Michael Flaherty and Robert Flaherty.

A service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Friday, January 17, at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Culver Educational Foundation for their Summer Camp Program at 1300 Academy Road #153, Culver, IN 46511 or to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to support young adult programs, 6050 N. Meridian St. Indianapolis, IN 46208.

Dear Josh,

It was so much fun spending time with you during the renovation of the Washington Blvd home. Amy and I always had fun talking about all the amazing food you were going to make when the kitchen was finished.
Your smile always brightened up our day. Every time we left the home Amy and I would talk about how much fun you made the renovation project.
We love you and will always be thinking about you.

I met Josh while he attended Butler University, as I was a class ahead of him. He and I became good friends and remained in touch throughout the years. Josh was incredibly kind and generous, and I remember our times together on and off campus fondly. My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time- thoughts and prayers to the Bremner family.

He was loved by so many. Josh and his parents were so good to us, keeping John when the Egypt trip was delayed, visiting with Sam at Culver summer camp and always being so kind to both John and Sam. He will be missed by many, including us. We are thinking of your family at this horribly sad time. We will remember Josh's smile and the happy times and memories we had with him.

With love,
Beth, John & Sam Amy

Dear Gina, Jim, and family,
I am so stunned and saddened to learn of the loss of Josh. I have the fondest memories of him growing up at St. Paul’s as the adored kid brother of Matt, and then in his older years as such a sweet natured and reliable acolyte and regular face on Sunday mornings. I cannot begin to imagine the pain of your loss. I greatly regret that I cannot be there for the celebration of Josh’s life on Friday, but I am out of the country. Please know that I hold you all in my heart, and I pray that you will feel God’s loving arms around you in your grief.
With loving sympathy,
Barb MacDougall

Jim, Gina and Matt and the Bremner family,

There are no words to express our sympathy in your losing Josh. We cannot profess to feel your pain from a sudden and too early loss of a loving member of your family. We do know a part of each of you left the earth with Josh's spirit and it is not replaceable and so we grieve for the loss of Josh and the empty spaces in your hearts. We just hope and pray that the empty space is healed and replaced slowly with the many joyful memories you have of his days on earth, sharing that easy smile and friendliness that all who knew him appreciated. May God, family and friends help bring peace and strength in this time of grief and loss. Know that we love you very much.
