OBITUARY

Joyce A. Little

November 20, 1934February 17, 2021

Today, Heaven is a little brighter with a new shining star. Joyce Ann Little made her last call on February 17, 2021. Joyce was born to Howard A. Harvey and Norma M. Harvey (Larison) on November 20, 1934 in Elwood, Indiana.

Joyce grew up in Indianapolis in a loving family, the third of four children. She loved stories of her father telling her to make mud pies just so she would get out of the few hairs left on his head and being excited that people actually bought them for a nickel a pie, or the time he convinced her that she had to dig for worms in the garden for her dinner. You had the impression that she followed him around constantly. Her first job in the 1950’s was as an Indiana Bell Operator. After she raised her family, she went back to work as a Receptionist for Regency Electronics in Lawrence and other companies until she retired completely 20 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, being active in her church, family reunions, bowling in earlier years, golfing until her hips said otherwise, lunches with girlfriends, always playing cards, particularly Euchre, raising Great Danes, needlework, crafts, selling handmade cards for a time and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.

Joyce was preceded in death by her late husband, Frank J. Little, Jr, her parents, her sister Mary Evelyn Armstrong and her bother Bobby G. Harvey. She is survived by her four children, Leslie, Jeffrey (Martha), Loraine (Michael), and Scott (Jesseca), her grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon, Craig, Davis and Anna, her sister Karen Manley, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A graveside service offered by Rev. Diane Spleth of Allisonville Christian Church will be held on February 26, 2021 at 1:00 at Washington Park East Cemetery for the family. Due to the virus, we ask that you keep safe and raise a toast to Mom, tell a joke, play a game of Euchre and remember the spirit of this most wonderful lady. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in her honor.

Joyce Little
A Legacy of Love

To know her was to love her. Everything about her radiated kindness, gentleness and sincerity. She was a woman of honor, always giving the best of herself. Thankfulness and gratitude was faithfully expressed in every conversation we had. In her eyes, she had the absolute best family that God ever created. When she spoke of them, her face beamed with pride. Her last words to us were, “Please know how much I love you!” I was beyond blessed to have had such a wonderful mother-in-love. I will treasure every moment I had with her.
Proverbs 31:28 Her children rise up and call her blessed.

Where to begin, I don't know! If there was ever an angel on earth, it was you, Joyce. From our childhood how you loved to do my hair. When Daddy allowed you and Imto go behind Niagara Falls, you resisted the temptation to drown me (lol). You took me to Little America amusement park, what a treat. As the years passed you were always there to help no matter what the circumstances. You were there for Mark's birth and he loved having a "second mom". We shared our deepest secrets and never once argued! For 74 years you were the wind beneath my wings! I will love you for all eternity!!

My prayers and condolences to all her family. Joyce and I spent so many wonderful times together. I have truly missed her this past year. I know she is in a better place and with her Frank but she sure will be missed by me and her friends and family.

My condolences to all of you. Leslie, I enjoyed hearing about your mother and your time with her over the years. Even though her last years were difficult there was obviously much joy and stories to laugh about. Now she is back with her husband and heaven is indeed a little brighter.
