Obituary of Karyl "Chicki" Lynne Malone
Karyl Lynne “Chicki” Malone (nee Miller), 75, of Indianapolis, IN, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 17, 2021. She was born March 20, 1946 as the youngest of four children to the late Harold and Agnes (Frank) Miller in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She attended St. Liborius Catholic Grade School, Bloom Township High School, and Mundelein College. Karyl married her husband of 51 years Doran Malone on September 27,1969, and then had two sons together, Brian and Patrick. Karyl graduated from Indiana University Northwest in 1992 with a degree in Health Information Technology. She was employed as a medical decoder by St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN and Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois using that degree. Karyl was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Karyl was a special person and inspiration to those that knew her. She was extremely loving, kind, never hesitated to help those in need, and handled her own medical tribulations with such dignity. Karyl enjoyed life by antiquing, attending live music venues, and solving puzzles. Most weekends when her boys were young, Karyl could be found in a gym supporting their athletics, she loved being a wrestling mom and spoke often of those days. Later in life Karyl became a grandmother of two boys, Lucas and Gus, who were the light of her life. She loved to spoil and spend time with her grandsons. She will be deeply missed by her family and everyone that knew her. Karyl is survived by her husband, Doran Malone; two sons, Brian and Patrick (Kristen) Malone; two grandsons, Lucas and Augustus Malone; Mother-in-Law, Bernetta Deshazo; sisters, Kathryn Johnson, Karen (Lou) Wegrzin, and Dorinda (Michael) Hays; nephews and a niece. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Miller. A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 12-2 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, 740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
