She will be dearly missed by all that knew her!

I was in her classroom from 1982-83!  She was my favorite teacher!  She would always help me with classroom work!
I loved going to her Summer Program she held at her house!

Ms. Robbins will forever be remembered for her endless love of teaching students in her class. 

Her “Great 8 team” moniker was an extension of her exemplary teaching style and advocacy for team effort in everything her students pursued. 

Most of us didn’t realize how fortunate we were to be in her class until years later when we reflect on our shared memories captured in our personalized craft books, school performances and trips to local senior homes. She’s genuinely invested time and energy to make every student feel and be special. 

She will be remembered as a mom, daughter and grandmother. For those few of us fortunate to be in her class at Greenbriar elementary, we knew her as Ms. Robbins, our great eight team leader!


I got to know Kathy in her later years. As an adult scarred by health problems and daily challenges common for any adult, she was as pure and bright as a newborn. I admired her for her mental strength, for her never-ending curiosity to learn something new, and for her engagement in conversations that stimulated a growth mindset and kindness. Kindness is the word that comes to mind when I think of Kathy.  She made the person she was with feel like the most important person in the world – she genuinely asked questions about their health, about their experiences, about their day, their ambitions, and dreams. The other person was the number one, and she was number two – patiently absorbing every word the other said, never to make a judgement or ask uncomfortable questions. But the questions she posed were asked for knowledge, for companionship, for love. I never heard her complain or weep in sorrow because of her physical condition. The wheelchair could not restrain her spirit from traveling the world, from teaching the young, from sharing with the adults.

Kathy became my confidant when my mom could no longer be the one.  Kathy became my son’s best friend, best teacher, best grandma model. We will miss her physical presence dearly, but she will forever live in our hearts, in the lessons we learned from her, in our love for life, beauty, and wisdom.

She was Light, and Love, and Energy that sparked the Beauty, Understanding, and Compassion in the world around her. Kathy was the teacher I aspired to be. A teacher not defined by the walls of her classroom and the township rules but by her philosophy of teaching, of parenting, of caring. In our family, the name “Mrs. Robbins” became synonymous to “the Garden”; the school garden she planted with the hands of her children. The school garden that hosted Native American plants and flowers. The school garden that celebrated life. She guided the children where to dig, how deep or how shallow,  how to plant, how to water, how to clean out the weeds. And while the children were growing the garden, Kathy was growing the children. 

Mrs. Robbins knew how to talk to a child and make them feel validated, appreciated, and loved. To her, every child was unique, just like every plant in her garden was unique too. Mrs. Robbins saw in my child not another pupil but a highly sensitive, intelligent being with whom she indulged in the most interesting conversations. She called him, “My Nikolai”, as I am sure she called every child whose life progressed through her classroom, her school garden, her summer enrichment program, “My: My Collin, My Ashton, My Ginny, …. “ –  it is impossible to name them all.

Mrs. Robbins taught the children real life-lessons in real-life situations. She took them to the courthouse downtown to roleplay the trial of the big, bad wolf. She took them to a Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood for a delightful ethnic meal prepared in a way the children had never seen before. She taught them lessons parents didn’t have the time or knowledge to teach. She taught them right from wrong through reading, listening, questioning – in any moment of the day she used the most appropriate strategy to engage the growing minds and lead them toward the light, the positive thinking, the goodness in their hearts.

Sorry for your loss Kim and Kristy.  I had Mrs. Robbins many years ago, but can honestly say she was the best/most important teacher that I ever had.  I think Mrs. Robbins had two super powers.  The first is that, I believe, most of her former students would say she was their favorite teacher.  Secondly, I also think most of us would say that we believe we were one of her favorite students.  That is just the environment she created, and the love she gave.  Still not sure how she got me into her home summer school, and I do not remember hating it or not wanting to go.  What kid wants to go to summer school?  Again, all credit to her teaching skills.  More importantly for me, our two families became friends, and we spent a lot of time outside of school over the years.  I was even able to take my husband and two children to meet her.  You will be greatly missed.  

Mrs Robbins gave our girls the love of learning, she gave them experiences through all her activities that they would not have gotten otherwise.  She  showed and taught them dreams are in reach and to never give up or loose sight of them.  We thank you for all you did for the many children that were lucky enough to be under your ‘watch’.  Mrs. Robbins’ death leaves her family and many friends and colleagues with grief and an empty place in their lives where her joy and warmth used to be.  I hope you are sustained by memories of the many students who benefitted by having her as their teacher.  My son Adam was one of her second graders at Greenbriar.  He went on to become a teacher, too.  His class presented a spring program that included two skits from books they read.  One was two babies talking from Free to be You and Me, and the other was from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day where a kid would read the story and the whole class would yell the Terrible… refrain.  What a wonderful way to enjoy stories!  She was a fabulous teacher, a very warm person, and a delightful summer writing camp director.  May her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.



To Mrs Robinson Family I send all of my condolences to you all 🙏🏾.  Mrs Robinson was my 4th grade teacher in 2013 and to say that she was a blessing would be an understatement she helped mold me into the grown women I am today. To shine my bright light when we had our mock trial tone er being afraid to be you. To always just showing love to her students even when we was getting in her nerves. I loved Mrs Robinson so much ❤️. I wish I could have talked to her more as I got older bjt I know that she is happy and smilingndown her smile eas so beautiful 🥺❤️

The only reason we feel such a profound loss is because we had such a profound blessing. How sad we are now but how lucky we were and how fortunate we are still to have all the stories and memories we shared, let us find peace in the past to carry our hearts forward. Kathy was such an extraordinary woman. She was always thoughtful and kind caring and helpful. She showed her Christ like love in all of her interactions. I will always remember the plays she put on every year. She even got my very shy son to participate, we are so grateful and blessed to have known her, she will always be greatly missed with deepest condolences Paula, Hill and family

Kathy   was a very gifted teacher and   was a wonderful example of her knowledge to  help  my two children and grandson.  She was my  neighbor for  47 years too.

She was a beautiful person, inside and out.  She was a neighbor and an upperclassmen in high school.  Always kind to everyone.  Condolences to her family.  She was one of the good ones.

Kathy started out as our son Ben’s 2nd grade teacher; he invited her home to dinner one night and she and her 2 girls became family to our family, and Kathy a sister I never had! Our entire family embrace the memories of our children learning while growing and having fun during the memorable shows produced and directed by Kathy every year! As the child grew up and moved on to high school, they still felt a connection that would bring them back to Greenbriar each Spring to see yet another show and connect with those memories. Phil and his dad made props for the shows. It was a family affair. We were so grateful for Kathy’s beautiful and heartfelt impact on our family’s lives. She will be missed by so many.

She was the best teacher ever! Grease musical.  I think of her every time I hear those songs!  I especially loved going to her home for the summer school program.  Such a sweet and caring person. Thoughts and prayers for her family ❤️

To her beautiful daughters, Sally, and Ed, my heartfelt condolences in the loss of your mom and sister.  Kathy was always the sweetest person, with only kindness and care for others In her heart, especially for Oh children.   As young children, we had the best of times at Donna and Art’s house, with a close kinship to these cousins.   Heaven has certainly gained another angel. Mrs Robbins was my 1st and 2nd grade teacher and by far my favorite! Kept in touch with her through the years. She adopted one of our kittens back in the late 70's. She attended my baby shower for my 2nd child.  Here I saw her for her retirement party. She was so loved by everyone who knew her.

I had the pleasure of knowing Kathy at Pike HS.  She was and always will be that beautiful black haired cheerleader and Homecoming Queen.  She is no longer in pain and that gives me peace for her.  I'm so thankful I connected with her again later in our lives - Rest In Peace, beautiful girl ❤️‍🩹
