My thoughts and prayers are with the whole Baker family.  She was a big football mom for both of her boys at Chatard and Purdue. Some of my fondest memories are the fun tailgates that we attended for Purdue games. Like my dad would say, if you went hungry it was your own damn fault.  She was very welcoming to me and my family. I will cherish the memories with her.

Linda was a shining light. Her surviving family members are evidence of her living example. She was always present and ready to join in.

I had a unique relationship with Linda, as she was both my boss at the phone company and a nearby neighbor in Nora.  As a supervisor, Linda was feisty, fierce, forceful, yet fun loving.  Because most on our team were raising families, we often swapped stories.  We all rode the “Baker roller coaster” of Linda’s “football mom” days, from the Chatard dynasty, through the “Purdue vs Notre Dame” dilemma, (Right choice there!) to the triumph of becoming a Miami Dolphin…..what a ride!  Chrissie babysat for my three young sons for several summers, where my boys were treated to adventures including trips to the Baker swimming pool, public library, and the movies. Linda loved celebrations. I remember unloading her van in front of the 240 building, stuffed with Costco goodies.  Linda hosted one team party at Christmastime in her meticulously decorated home: It was holiday magic at its finest.  Linda’s greatest joy and passion was her family, and most especially her beloved grandchildren.  My last memory of being with Linda was after Sunday mass at St. Pius, which she often attended with Ryan’s family.  Our conversation was brief, as her granddaughters were begging enthusiastically to spend the afternoon at grandma’s house.  Linda smiled lovingly as her eyes sparkled; She  looked radiantly happy.  I was blessed to know your mother and your precious priceless family.

Dearest Baker "kids", your beloved Mom was the kindest person to everyone at St. Pius X when you were growing up.  She was the world's best volunteer and fan of your activities. I am sending my deepest sympathy-- she was so easy to love and appreciate.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dearest friend Linda.  We met at Indiana Bell as teenagers and quickly became close friends in 1968.  Linda was a bridesmaid in my marriage to my first husband.  I’m so thankful we had a chance to have lunch together a few months ago after not physically seeing each other since our Indiana Bell days although we did keep in touch.  My condolences to her husband Jerry, children and grandchildren whom I know she loved so very much and talked about all the time.  RIP and well my friend in the Loving Arms of our Heavenly Father who you so faithfully served all your life!  You will be missed! 😢

I met Linda many years ago through the American Sewing Guild. Her talents were unsurpassed and she was an inspiration to many! My deepest condolences to her family and friends.

I worked for Linda at “the phone company”. It went through so many name changes. She was a wonderful leader & extraordinary person. During my mother’s illness & subsequent death in 2002 she gave me all the lee way to be there for my mom. I have never forgotten her kindness & understanding. My condolences to the family. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. Linda and I worked together for many years in our early days at Indiana Bell.
We traveled to England with a company sponsored trip as a group of six excited young girls.
Linda was a wonderful friend and a lovely caring person. She will be missed. May she rest in peace.

Deb Foster Staser

Not only was Linda an integral part of the Saint Pius moms’ sisterhood, volunteering to help with carnivals, school lunches, breakfasts with Santa, and many other everyday school and weekend activities, she was a dear friend for nearly 47 years. We walked, talked, sewed, cooked, shared, watched over each other’s children, went on road trips, and found beauty in each other and every day life. She will be sorely missed forever. Godspeed Mrs. B.  The whole Branigan family will miss you.

I’m a grateful of knowing Linda Baker. I have known her for 34 years. She was always so welcoming to me.  Funny story, when I met Steve I was a freshman in high school, he was telling me stories and sometimes he stretched the truth, he told me he had an elevator at his house.. I believed him.. that turned out to be a fib, so we joke back and forth about that and then he told me his mothers name which is the same as my mothers name! my 14 year old brain was like, I am not falling for this again.. it took me a while to realize that that was her real name!  I always appreciated the warmth and welcoming arms she always had for me. I will miss my second mom Linda Baker.

She was way more than my friends mom or my mom’s great friend, she was family! She was always super kind to me, rooted for me in every aspect of life and always made me laugh. Lots of great memories spent in her basement playing pool and pop a shot, watching movies and making the best popcorn of all time! She is and will be very missed. Love you Bakers!
