

Was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna, and wife Phyllis (2023), his high school sweetheart.

Louis was father to six children; Nancy Nichols (Terry), Dan (Barb), Lou, Jr (Lissa), Jane Heuring (Dave), David (deceased), and Stuart (Amy.)
Grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was a 2nd generation American, grew up in Cleveland, a Veteran of the US Army, graduated from Kent State University (Ohio), began a work career in the trucking management industry and retired as a National Account Executive with Preston Trucking Company, Inc. in Indianapolis. His many hobbies included fishing, woodworking, RV traveling, making snow forts/sled courses/giant snowmen, winemaking, cooking/grilling and making authentic Slovak kielbasa (klobása).
His wisdom, drive, endurance, encouragement and ability to challenge oneself reflected on his role as a family patriarch. His exclamation of the Polish phrase “Matka Boska” (Mother of God) was a favorite that his family and friends will remember fondly.
His memorial service will be on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Leppert-Nora Chapel, 740 East 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46240 (317) 844-3966. Viewing will start at 12 noon EST with a service to be held at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
