Obituary of Martha A. Halal
Martha A. Halal (McNamara) was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 31, 1952. She loved being a Halloween baby and cherished the Trick or Treaters that got all dressed up to see her and celebrate her birthday. Marty attended high school at Saint Agnes Academy where she made many lifelong friends and graduated in 1970. She received a scholarship and attended the Herron School of Art. She loved drawing and painting. Marty and John were married on January 16, 1988 and lived in Fishers, Indiana. Marty worked as a Medicare Claims Auditor for twenty years. She opened and managed a second, John & Friends, beauty salon in Fishers for nine years and retired in 2012. She loved to work in the garden or just sit on the back porch and enjoy the view. Marty fought a three-year battle with cancer with incredible courage. She passed away peacefully, without any pain on September 11, 2022, at 10:00 pm. Marty is predeceased by her father, Edward, survived by her husband John, her mother Mary Lou McNamara, sister Nancy Cotten, brother and sister Phil and Ruth McNamara, three nephews and a niece. When we moved into a new house Marty said she wanted bird feeders for her birthday present. So, we installed two poles with ten feeders and filled them with seed every day. For the last twenty years we’ve been able to sit on our porch and enjoy the variety of beautiful birds that come by. And we knew we were helping them. That’s what Marty did. She helped everyone. She never asked for anything for herself. She always wanted to help others. The quality of Marty’s life is not measured in years, it’s measured by everyone she loved and everyone who loved her. Her friends and family meant everything to her. Visitation at Leppert Mortuary in Nora.
