Mary Elizabeth (“Mary Beth”) Adams, age 76 of Indianapolis, died August 29th, 2026. Mary Beth was born on January 21, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN. She was the daughter of the late Irma (Gallagher) and Carl Roesinger. She is a graduate of Bishop Chatard High School, Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College and earned a master’s degree in education from Butler University. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, and her sister, Margaret A. Crisp.
While attending Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Mary Beth met her future husband, John, who was attending nearby Indiana State University. The two were married in 1973. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith and friendship in Indianapolis, where they raised their four sons and shared many meaningful years surrounded by the people and community they cherished.
Mary Beth was an avid runner and completed numerous marathons including the New York City, Boston and Chicago Marathons. She was a tough and fierce competitor, both in running and in life. Many of her greatest friendships came from her running community.
Her four boys were her pride and joy. She and her husband, John, were a guiding hand in the early part of their sons’ lives and provided mentorship into their adult years. Family always came first for Mary Beth. Her love and devotion to John and their boys came before everything else, and it was a value she lived out and instilled in her family every day. As her sons married, Mary Beth was blessed with four wonderful daughters-in-law, who became some of her closest friends and confidants. She loved each of them as her own. She adored her nine grandchildren as well, embracing them with that same generous love and making each of them feel cherished.
Mary Beth was a devoted member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She dedicated her career to nurturing and teaching young children in preschool and kindergarten, leaving an indelible impression on generations of children and families throughout Indianapolis.
She is survived by her loving sons, Johnny IV (Angela), Stephen (Sarah), Patrick (Kelli) and Tim (Kathryn) Adams, and her grandchildren, Drew, Molly, Matthew, Erin, Johnny V, Abbi, Tommy, Caroline and Elizabeth Adams. She is also survived by her brothers, Stephen J. Roesinger (Marjorie) and James C. Roesinger (Mary).
She and her family are grateful for the care she received from the entire medical team with Indiana University Health, especially Dr. Patrick J. Loehrer, Community Health Network and Paradigm Health Hospice Care.
Family and friends will gather at St. Pius X Catholic Church (7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46240) on Wednesday, September 2nd from 10:00am to Noon, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at Noon.
