

Melissa Witecha, 56, of Lebanon, IN, passed away June 10, 2026. She was born November 18, 1969, in Noblesville, Indiana to Fred and Joan Heine. Melissa was a graduate of Ball State University, majoring in Childhood Education.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 25 years, Gregory; mother, Joan Heine; sister, Susan Medina; brother, Jim Heine; sisters-in-law, Carole Souhrada and Tracy Heine; niece, Annalise; and nephew, Fritz. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Heine and brother-in-law, Laco Medina.
Melissa was very devoted to her family and friends. She would always have a shoulder to cry on and lend a hand to those in need. She touched the hearts of many through life, family, and school, and was a devoted Christian. She volunteered for many non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity and church fellowship retreats. Melissa also had a love for children. She was a substitute teacher after college and loved to babysit. Melissa was also a receptionist at Carmel United Methodist Church.
Melissa was a worldwide traveler and enjoyed cruises. Her favorite destinations included Cancun, Mexico, Mexican Ruins, Glacier National Park, and Prince Edward Island in Nova Scotia, Canada.
She was a fan of Anne of Green Gables (local heroine of Prince Edward Island where she enjoyed visiting), and the celebration of holidays (especially Halloween and Christmas). Most of all she was all about Disney. She was a former Disney Cruise line and Disney Store cast member. She was also a Disney Vacation Club reservation specialist. The best-known fact is that she shares her birthday with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who were introduced on November 18, 1928.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4-7 PM at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel (740 E. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11 AM at Carmel United Methodist Church, 621 S. Rangeline Rd., Carmel, IN. There will also be visitation at the church beginning at 10 AM until time of service. Interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Casual clothing requested as a tribute to Melissa (bright colors, Disney sweatshirts…).
