Molly Cava

A loving mother and devoted wife, a schoolteacher and volunteer, Molly always had a smile on her face and joy in her heart. Molly’s fight with Lewy body dementia came to an end on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Asheville North Carolina, with her family by her side. She was 80 years old.

Molly was born in Berwyn, Illinois, and raised in Anderson, Indiana. She was a Pi Phi at Butler University and taught at Skiles Test and Crestview Elementary schools. She met her husband Pete on a blind date, and instantly knew he was the one. They were married on September 18, 1976. Molly decided to retire from teaching and raise her two children, while volunteering at their schools. She then worked at Briarwood Animal Clinic and enjoyed the social interactions with all of their clients.

Molly was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy Mehagan; and her beloved husband, Pete Cava. She is survived by her two children, Andrew (Chantal) and Nancy (Mark); her two grandchildren, Molly and Lucy; and her brother, Michael (Brenda).

Molly’s caring heart, boundless love, and beautiful spirit will live on in her family and friends she left behind.

A gathering will be held at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel ( 740 East 86th St, Indianapolis, IN ) on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
