Myra Jo "Jody" Meharg (Melton), age 86, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Friday, August 20, 2021.

She was a graduate of Broad Ripple High School and attended Butler University. Jody was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church (former Sunday school teacher) and WINS (Indianapolis Republican Women in Neighborhood Service, held many positions over the years). Jody succeeded in serving at the Indianapolis State House in various capacities most recently as Deputy Treasurer of the State.

Jody’s talents were many and she especially enjoyed serving and assisting over the years in many elections and campaigns. She was an avid reader, solved crossword puzzles (pen only) and kept up with current events.

Jody was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, community volunteer and friend. She shared many meals at the White River Yacht Club with her dearest friends and family.

Jody is preceded in death by her parents; Mary Millholland (spouse Tom) and Bernard Melton, her husband of 53 years in 2008; Owen Meharg, and her daughter-in-law; Glenda Meharg.

She is survived by her children; Ellen Albrecht of Rangeley, ME, Michael Meharg of Lebanon, IN, and Mary Kay Krambeer (spouse William) of Carmel, IN. Also loved dearly by her grandchildren; Cory (Capella) Albrecht, Alexandra (Joe) Molloy, Jensen Meharg (Jacob Kroeger), Abigail Akimanya, Grace (Christian) Harris, and Joseph Krambeer. Great-grandchildren include; CJ and Whit Albrecht, Kayleigh and Hannah Molloy, Kennedy, Stella and Norah Kroeger, Carson Harris, and Marley Akimanya.

A visitation for Jody will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Leppert Mortuaries – Nora, 740 East 86th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46240. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260. A livestreaming of the service can be viewed at www.secondchurch.org/funeral.

Due to the family's allergies of flowers, they ask instead that contributions in Jody's memory be made to the Hamilton County Humane Society, 10501 Hague Rd., Fishers, Indiana 46038.

Please accept our sincerest sympathies on Jody's passing. She and Owen were valued members, and Jody much of the glue, of our Class of 66 Republican office holders. We already missed seeing them, and more recently her, at gatherings that she arranged. A sad day for all who knew her.
