Patricia Wilson Cleveland passed away surrounded by her children and grandchildren on July 6, 2025, at the age of 86. Patricia was born Patricia Carroll Wilson on April 10, 1939, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Dr. Paul Hays Wilson and Margaret Ann Frushour Wilson. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Patricia grew up with her beloved siblings, Margaret Ann, Linda, and Loyal on Highland Ave. in New Castle, Pennsylvania. She attended Stuart Hall Boarding School, in Staunton, Virginia and later graduated from The Katherine Gibbs School and Finch College in New York City.
Patricia spent summers with her siblings and treasured cousins on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee in Culver, Indiana. These special times meant the world to her. She taught by love and example that family is everything. These memories never faded.
Patricia met David Balfour Cleveland at a summer party on the East Shore of Lake Maxinkuckee in the summer of 1964. They both said it was love at first sight, and they were married on November 7, 1964, in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
Patricia and David settled in Indianapolis, Indiana where they raised their three children Chris, Carroll, and Bally in the beautiful house on the hill that they designed together. In addition to the love and devotion to her family, Patricia had a deep commitment to advocating for the needs of those with disabilities. She served on the board of Noble of Indiana and was honored in 2019 to receive the Harriet P. Irsay Distinguished Parent Award from Noble, an organization that serves children and adults with disabilities. She also had a successful Real Estate career working with AHM Graves, F.C. Tucker, and Patricia Cleveland Real Estate.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, Margaret Ann and Paul Wilson, her stepfather, Edwin H. Becker, her stepbrothers, Allen (Judy) and Nelson (Dixie) Becker. She is survived by her siblings, Margaret Ann Wilson, Linda Wilson Flannery (Richard), and Loyal Wilson (Margaret), her stepsister, Mary Anna Swennumson (Richard), her grateful and loving children, Christopher Wison Cleveland, Carroll Cleveland Hannon (John), and Loyal Balfour Cleveland (loving known as Bally), and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Elizabeth Kay Hannon (Charlie), Kathryn Carroll Hannon, Emily Marie Herman (Carter), John Paul Hannon, and Lily Grace Hannon.
Patricia was the perfect combination of poise and grace, Christmas and The Lake, compassion and advocacy, white gloves and a warm smile, a perfectly set table and a bag of potato chips, and fine china and a clever wit. Her life was replete with love, laughter, and family, but most importantly, she was Nani.
