Dr. Richard (Rick) E. Barb, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025. Rick was born on September 25, 1936, to the late Dr. William and Axie (Plew) Barb in Indianapolis where he was raised and lived his entire life. He graduated from Butler University and Indiana University School of Dentistry and was an active member of Sigma Chi. Rick had a prosperous career in oral surgery, working both in a hospital and private practice settings. In 1964, Rick married his beloved, surviving wife, Janet (Lempke).
Rick and Janet were avid travelers and loved spending time outdoors. Rick enjoyed history, collecting books, and model airplanes. As a lifelong supporter of the arts, Rick loved classical music and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Rick was devoted to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where he served as the leader of the usher program for many years. Rick is survived by his wife Janet and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Richard will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
