A graduate of Kansas State University in 1952. His career was with Acme-Evans Flour Mill from 1976 to 1993 where he served as president. Dick was a longtime and dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a member of The Junto of Indianapolis for many years as well as, Millers National Federation, North American Millers’ Association and St. Pius X Council #3433 of Knights of Columbus. He was happiest making memories with his beloved family and friends and warm days on his pontoon on Lake Wawasee.
Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Costello Hilts in 2001 and siblings, Glennys, Glenn, Clara Frances, Dorothy and Betty Ann. He is survived by his loving children, Anne (Greg) Queisser and Richard A. “Rich” (Ruth) Hilts; grandchildren, Kitty Lantrip, Andy Queisser, Jaime (David) Cook, Brandon (Katy) Hilts, Brian (Kasey McKenney) Hilts, Bradley (Ellie Webb) Hilts and Bridget (Sean Moore) Hilts and nine great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Chapel with visitation there beginning at 10:00 am.
