Bob was born September 6, 1949, in Indianapolis to the late Merle and Doris (Arney) Olin. He attended Broad Ripple High School and was a proud graduate of Indiana University. Bob spent 35 years working in Finance Information Technology at Herff Jones, where he built a long and dedicated career.
Bob was a kind and gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor. He had a gift for finding joy in the little things and never took life—or the people he loved—for granted. He especially enjoyed slapstick comedy such as The Three Stooges and Chevy Chase, and he could always find a way to make those around him laugh.
Family was at the heart of everything Bob did. He loved his family deeply and always put them first. He was happiest when he was spending time with the people he loved, whether at home, traveling, playing golf, watching sports, working on a puzzle, or gathering around a table for a game of Euchre. Bob was a devoted IU fan and rarely missed an IU, Pacers, or Colts game.
Bob will be remembered for his gentle nature, generous heart, patience, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle—and a true friend to many. To those who knew and loved him, Bob was a steady presence and a source of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. His family will carry his memory with them always.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Olin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Olin; devoted daughters, Tiffany (Bob) Leppert and Kelly Humbers; cherished grandchildren, Abigail “Abi” Humbers Olin, Meghan Leppert, and Matthew Leppert; dear siblings, Steve (Trish) Olin and Rosalie Saurini; sister-in-law Julie Olin; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation for Bob will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at Leppert Mortuary – Nora Chapel, followed by a time of remembrance at 3:30 p.m.
